Natasha Sample

Natasha Sample is an up-and-coming fashion designer to be featured on May 13, SFW’s Emerging and Independent Designer night. Natasha designs evening wear. This season, her inspiration came from the peacock. “The whole line is basically incorporating the colors of the feathers along with the glamour and elegance of the bird,” she said.

Her design style expresses her girly side. Her personal style is a little more mixed. “I’m one of those people whose style is definitely determined by my mood,” Natasha shared. “If I’m feeling tomboy-ish, I’ll rock a sweater and jeans. If I want to do something dressier, I’ll dress it up.”

Natasha emphasizes the importance of staying true to your vision when designing and not to worry about whether or not everyone is going to love or hate what you produce. “At the end of the day, you have to be happy with what you’re creating,” she said. After SFW, Natasha hopes to be on TV. She’s attending auditions for “The Fashion Show” and “Project Runway.” Good luck, Natasha!

Fun Facts about Natasha:

• She’s originally from Anchorage, Alaska. She moved to Seattle to attend the Art Institute, where she graduated in June 2009 with a BFA in Fashion Design.
• Her favorite designers are Vera Wang, Christian Dior, Versace and Oscar de la Renta.
• Her designs were featured in an Art Institute ad that ran in Seventeen and CosmoGirl magazines.
• She loves horror films.

• Collection showcases old Hollywood glamour from the 40s and early 50s with crystals and beaded lace, chiffons, silks and satins.

Jongeun Kim, Seattle Pacific University

• Her Glitter! Glam! Pop! Collection is for city girls out on the town or clubbing, inspired after the late Michael Jackson. And Madonna—whom the handcrafted Boy Toy belt is dedicated to!

Artist Audition

Over the past 7 years Seattle Fashion Week has come to be known as one of the hottest events in the Pacific Northwest and has been recognized in the top twenty fashion shows in the United States. This year Seattle Fashion Week is back with an electrifying event themed Seattle Fashion Week (R)Evolution 2010.

Seattle Fashion Week has grown into a large scale event this year. The brand new location for the 2010 event is the Qwest Field, which has given us a chance to expand our events and showcase many more designers and retailers. We welcome our newest sponsor the Hard Rock Café, Seattle into our city and into our communities. Other major sponsors include Comcast, Gene Juarez Salon, Interior Design Coalition of Washington (IDCW), Susan G Komen and Nolcha - New York Fashion Week.

To encourage and provide spotlight to homegrown musical talent, the Seattle Fashion Week event will incorporate music along with fashion. We are giving 3 local upcoming artists a chance to entertain the Seattle community during the Seattle Fashion Week on the same platform as the runway show during May 13-15th 2010. This is our reminiscing of the Seattle music scene.

6 artists will be selected from 15 pre-selected artists this Thursday, March 25th 2010 at the Trinity Night Club. We have lined up three brilliant judges who will be auditioning the pre-selected artists to select the top 6. They are Allie Shaw, the Label Manager from Listen Records/Sony, Jubile Flagg, an on air personality from Seattle’s 106.1 Kiss FM and Amy Bauer, a Talent Buyer from Hard Rock Café. Welcome

Welcome to the official Seattle Fashion Week 2010 blog!

As we speak, our team is dilligently toiling away on Seattle Fashion Week 2010. By day we are working our 9-5. By night, we are a volunteer group led by Gabriel Choy and Janet Tinsay who share a common passion for the fashion industry. We hope to bring you the best fashion week Seattle has seen yet: (R)EVOLUTION.

To tell you a little more about us, Seattle Fashion Week is a series of high-energy fashion shows and events designed to propel independent designers to the forefront of the National fashion spotlight.

These events allow an exclusive opportunity for designers and other artists to gain access to buyers, media and industry leaders. Unlike its fashion-week counterparts in Los Angeles and New York, Seattle Fashion Week is open to the public - providing sponsors and designers the opportunity to directly connect with consumers and industry leaders. And conversely, provides a live arena for the fashion-conscious consumer to get early access to emerging fashion trends.

Revived in 2003, Seattle Fashion Week has continued to grow, gaining support from national brands, local businesses, independent designers, and industry leaders. This is due to a committed group of fashion industry professionals with dreams of placing the city among the elite list of internationally recognized fashion weeks. Our passion is what allows the momentum and enthusiasm for Seattle Fashion Week to grow.

Over past years, Seattle Fashion Week attracted more than 1,000 attendees each year; impressively, Seattle Fashion Week 2009, over 4 days, brought the largest crowd yet totaling over 3,500 attendees. We look forward to seeing you there.
